Six Feet Down Under
Since the standard depth of a grave is six feet under the ground, six feet
down under refers to burying someone or something six feet deep. Idioms
abound on the relationship of six to death, such as getting rid or disposing
of someone or something by deep-sixing them; or throwing something away by
eighty-sixing it!
The question remains; why would the standard depth of a grave be six feet;
why not seven? Why would six be associated to death -- which, rather than being
only viewed as concerning the physical body, can also be lived as being a
transformation touching the mental body (changing your mind) or the
emotional body (e.g; feeling relieved).
Since idioms are popular wisdom, it is likely that their source is to be
found in the collective unconscious; and since the myth of the Bible is the
greatest indoctrination the Earth has received, is there a number SIX in the
text that may be of influence? The SIX days of creation are quite famous in
naming a completion and thus a change and a death of sorts... Should that not
be enough, there is a translation that has been buried down under, the
alternative translation of the most influential word of the entire Torah -- the
first word, which reads as Barashit for "created SIX," implying that ALL is
here already (no need to worry or plan). Substituted was Bereshit for "in
the beginning" and it's the illusion of time.
